i photographed this as an ode to the beautiful and idealized nudes from the renaissance period. thanks to rob for helping with retouching.
I also photographed this one as a recreation of Pygmalion:

i loved this assignment. a couple years ago i re-created a few paintings from the renaissance and other periods, and had painters work on the printed pieces. below are a couple from that series..i thought they fit well with the assignment.

My favorite aspect of Renaissance art is the development of linear perspective. It all comes down to the Western worlds worship of a single God, therefore there must be only 1 point of perspective. So I photographed buildings in a flat way, trying to disassociate the images from only 1 point of perspective.

Over the years this image, Lamentation by Andrea Mantegna, has stuck with me for one reason or another. I guess I noticed a likeness while documenting the first Open Heart Surgery in the new wing.
